Welcome to the

Montessori Europe 2026 Congress

We are delighted to invite you to Riga, Latvia, for the Montessori Europe 2026 Congress – an international gathering where Montessori education meets today’s urgent need for trust, peace, and resilience.

Taking place from 27–29 March 2026, this Congress brings together educators, researchers, and practitioners from across Europe and beyond, united by a shared commitment to supporting human development through Montessori’s timeless values.

This year’s theme, “The Courage to Trust: Nurturing Peace and Resilience through Montessori Education,” calls us to reflect deeply on education as a powerful agent of peace. In a world marked by rapid change and increasing uncertainty, the courage to trust – in the child, in the process of development, in each other – has never been more vital.

This page will be updated with provisional programme details as soon as they become available. Registrations for the Congress will open in September 2025.

We look forward to welcoming you to Riga for a meaningful exchange of ideas, inspiration, and connection.

The Story Behind
the Logo

The 2026 Congress logo visually expresses the heart of this year’s theme: “The Courage to Trust.”

At its centre, the logo forms a stylised image of two hands – one open in offering or support, the other gently enclosing – together shaping the outline of a heart. This symbolic gesture speaks to the reciprocity and vulnerability that trust requires: the courage to reach out, and the equal courage to receive.

The open hand suggests the Montessori guide: steady, observant, and respectful of the child’s autonomy. The enclosing shape evokes the prepared environment that nurtures each individual’s inner drive to grow and connect. The heart formed between them represents compassion, interdependence, and peace, the emotional core of trust-based education.

The natural colours,  green and blue, draw on the landscapes of Latvia, the host country for the 2026 Congress. A place of deep forests, flowing rivers, and strong cultural traditions, Latvia offers a powerful setting in which to explore the quiet strength of trust. The decision to gather in Riga is a deliberate one: here, in a country that has rebuilt itself through resilience and community, we are invited to reflect on what it means to nurture peace from the inside out.

This logo, like the congress itself, reminds us that trust is not passive. It is a courageous, active force – one that begins with the child and extends outward to shape a more peaceful and humane world.

Call for Workshop and Research Presenters

As part of the Montessori Europe 2026 Congress in Riga, we warmly invite educators, practitioners, and researchers to contribute to our shared exploration of this year’s theme:
“The Courage to Trust: Nurturing Peace and Resilience through Montessori Education.”

We are seeking contributions in two categories:

Workshop Presentations that offer practical, experiential, or discussion-based engagement with the congress theme across different planes of development.

Research Presentations that share current studies, reflections, or findings – academic or practice-based – that speak to all aspects of Montessori pedagogy and child development.
